There is something powerful and peaceful about the rural landscape—be it field, farm or forest. My intentions as a painter are to create works that honor this, and how I interpret the landscape with paint on canvas is my way of speaking about my love of the land.

A year ago this month, I was visiting various artist’s studios on the Chester County Studio Tour when I stopped along the side of the road in West Bradford Township near Tarad Hill Farm to take in the beauty of this idyllic place. Last week while scrolling through my Newsfeed, it surprised me to see a post asking for help to preserve Tarad Hill Farm. I felt concerned, sad and disappointed that the development of this historic rural landscape is under consideration. My immediate thought turned to my painting Enjoy the Ride which was inspired by this beautiful place. I have decided that if there is a way to use the image of my painting to bring attention to and create more public awareness about the work being done to preserve this open space, I would love to help. Stay tuned for updates on my collaboration with Marshallton Conservation Trust and learn how you can join the effort to save Tarad Hill Farm below.

At a minimum, open space preserves the habitat for native plants and wildlife and provides people with the restorative benefits of the natural world. Contact West Bradford Township to express your objection to the sale of Tarad Hill Farm to any developer who is not committed to the conservation of this historic rural landscape by sending an email to westbradford@westbradford.org. Stay up to date on the efforts to protect Tarad Hill Farm by visiting Marshallton Conservation Trust's website.

My recent paintings reference places that are familiar, places that I spend time visiting, spots where I enjoy walking, and locations that just speak to me, like Tarad Hill Farm, as they are a familiar part of my life. Head on over to my website to view my latest work and get in touch to schedule a visit to my studio.
